I spoke at 4 conferences this year, and after every one an organizer asked me the same question: "Do you know other women who'd want to speak?"
They want more women on stage. They just aren't getting the applications.
Here's the exact CFP that got me accepted to my first JSNation, annotated line by line.
I'll send you the CFP and, in December, one email about a program for people ready to submit.
I'm Karen Li — professional pianist, then 5th-grade teacher, then software engineer. I work on npm at GitHub, and I've spoken at 5 conferences in 3 countries.
What's inside
- The full abstract, with a note on every sentence
- The three things organizers told me they reject on
- 20 conferences with open CFPs that want first-time speakers
Something bigger is coming in December for people ready to submit. The list hears first.
